Today I Will Not Worry - I

He was gone. My husband died in 10 short days. What we were told was arthritis in his back was not. That’s is where Erin kicked in. My best friend from college, who lived three hours away from me never left my side for the next year. She did not live close but made sure I knew she was there. She knew me too well. She knew what would be easy for me and what would be hard. But most of all, she knew that I would now forever worry about my two sons. She was the first person to hold my oldest son beside his parents. She knew how to ease our pain. But she loved three hours away. She would figure it out because that is what a Erin did best. Then one day I received a I will not worry band from her. I wore it every day. The day I returned back to work, I flipped my band numerous times… I will not worry… Erin was there reminding me… when my son struggled to go back to college… every time I sat with a lawyer, looked at my bank account… filled out hours of paperwork… Erin was there, reminding me not to worry. I still wear my band. This band around my wrist was exactly what I needed to remind myself that things will get better and no need to worry in my darkest days.
