With June being Alzheimers awareness month, I thought it'd be the perfect opportunity to include a beautiful new elephant design to help us remember what's important.
Dementia is something that is incredibly personal to me, as both of my grandmas had it for the final few years of their lives. This was especially hard for me as I grew up very close to both of them, and watching them slowly become women it felt like I didn't know anymore were some of the hardest things I've ever gone through.
Maybe that's why I like talking about my hope for each reminder so much in all these stories I write - I want to give people little mementos of these moments in time so that they can remember them fondly, even when their loved ones can not. This one in particular has that sentiment to its highest level - a way of remembering all the moments of those we lost to such a cruel disease.
While there's no cure for Alzheimers or dementia in general, my hope is that one day there will be. That's why a portion of the proceeds from the sale of this design will be donated to the Alzheimers Association, a wonderful charity we've worked with for years. If dementia has impacted your family, my heart goes out to you. You are not alone, and my hope for you, with this beautiful little bracelet, is that it helps you to remember all the smiles, the laughs and the love. That's what really matters.
