Adoption Celebration: Eat, Prey, Love

In March 2018, I embarked on an adoption story that began with the decision to adopt a foster child. He was merely a distant image in my mind, but I diligently completed all the classes required for foster care adoption in Florida.

I met my now son in late July 2018, and our family bonding began to take root. As the adoption process moved forward, we were given the official adoption date of Halloween, a perfect occasion for an adoption celebration. The agency and court asked us to dress up for the hearing, but my 15-year-old son wasn’t into it. As a compromise, I bought matching football jerseys and Zox Halloween packs, which became meaningful accessories for everyone to wear to the courthouse. Now, every time I put on my Eat, Prey, Love strap, it reminds me of the greatest day of my life: the day I became an official mother and added a beautiful chapter to our family's real adoption stories.
