Story

If you were looking for a new favorite Halloween design, you're in the right place.

Today's ZOXBLOG is all about embracing who you are – inside and out. As much fun as it is to dress up for Halloween, being someone other than yourself outside of that can be a little harmful for our mental health.

Even heard someone say, "Oh, that person is sooo fake"? Usually, that sentence isn't referring to a costume but someone's attitude, personality, persona.

However, for some, being authentically themselves is harder said than done. Today, we're going to dive into a few ways you can become more comfortable in your own skin.

Step Back Into You

Did you know that about 96% of women aren't comfortable in their own skin? Imagine how the rest of society feels! Unfortunately, I think a lot of these negative thoughts come from society itself, but breaking the cycle isn't too difficult. Each and every one of us are unique, and that is not a bad thing. It should be embraced.

Here are a few ways to do that:

  1. Take care of yourself – Whether it's a mini-spa day or sitting on the porch with a cup of tea, spending time simply relaxing is vital. We don't let ourselves rest enough, and most of the time, a good bit of rest can go a long way.
  2. Do what makes you happy – If no one has told you lately, saying no to things that make you unhappy, uncomfortable, or whatever it is, is okay. It's amazing to put others before yourself, but if it's affecting your mental health, it's probably a good idea to take a step back. Pursue your hobbies! Fill your days with activities to bring you joy and peace. We have a limited time on this earth – why not spend that time doing something that fuels you?
  3. Learn to be alone – BTW, being alone ≠ loneliness. If we can learn how to comfortably spend time alone, we'll be able to learn who we are deep inside. The better we know ourselves, the more we'll fall in love with ourselves. Alone time helps us to "perceive [ourselves] in a better way and not be dependent on society."

Being authentically yourself should be the default! And it's much preferred to you being someone else. You're here for a reason, made uniquely you on purpose.

I hope this ZOX helps you to tap into self-care mode whenever you need it. And, remember, always keep it real.

Be bold,

Landri
