Don't Hide Your Talents
Don't Hide Your Talents
Story
In looking at at Chelsea's blog posts from a few months ago called 'Don't Hide Your Talents', I found one of my favorite bit she wrote was the part about nurturing the things you're passionate about.
Like Chelsea, I also started writing nearly a year or so ago now, working on a fictional story about my family. Writing is so incredibly hard because while I truly believe that all of us have a great story to tell, getting our thoughts out on paper is another challenge completely. Like Neil Gaiman says - "We write because we want to know how the story ends."
I believe that talents are the same way - we practice because we want to know how far we can go - how good we can become.
But how do we get better if we're doing it alone?
Don't Hide Your Talents is such a wonderful reminder to me because it really makes you think. How often do you start practicing something new and you're too embarrassed to show anyone? How many things have you left half-done because you just sort of stopped working on them? Would you have stopped if you were in a group with other people who enjoyed doing the same thing as well?
We get better when we talk with others - when we share our dreams, goals and ideas with one another. Don't believe it? Think about the times where you've left a conversation feeling great - what did you talk about?
In my own life, I can't even begin to count the number of conversations I've walked away from feeling reinvigorated and ready to take on the world. Talking with other like-minded people who love to think through big ideas with me is something that makes my brain so happy. The truth is, I have a feeling it does the same for you. My hope with this little reminder is that it gives you the courage to open up to others and share what you're passionate about. Even if it's just with us in the VIP group - take that leap and let's see if anyone else likes the same thing. Life is so much more fun when we get to do it with others, and the best way to make new friends is to find what we have in common.
So with that said, let's do this. Here's your early access to this week's Spotlight design: Don't Hide Your Talents.
Like last week, there's only 1,000 of these with blue stitching and if they sell out within the week, we'll make more with standard stitching soon. If not, this is it! ❤️
Big hugs,
