Je Fais De Mon Mieux

Petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid. Little by little, a bird builds its nest.

Upon first seeing this adorable ZOX design, I knew instantaneously that it must be in French. I know the little puppies have berets, but that wasn’t why I thought so – though it did play a small role! In college, I studied abroad, and right before I started classes, a few friends and I visited Paris in the middle of summer.

It had always been my dream to visit Paris, so getting to do so with good friends and good weather was like my dream had come true right before my eyes. Whenever I look back on those memories, I’m filled with joy. Though, there were some hiccups during the trip. One of the girls with us didn’t really get along with the rest of the group and chose to spread rumors, telling us that no one else in our class liked us. I’m sure there were other little flares of drama that occurred that summer, but that one instance has stuck with me through the years.

Because of this silly rumor, my friend group felt extremely uncomfortable. We each had moments of thinking, “should we just go home, or should we try to stick it out?” Sadly, one of our friends ended up going home, but the remainder of us did our best and stuck it out. And, boy, am I so glad that we did. It was one of the best summers of our lives.

The moral of the story is that I learned that if things are falling apart around you, that’s the best time to do the best you can to stick it through. As the back of this card says, little by little, a bird builds its nest. You don’t have to get everything right on the first try. With each step you take, you’ll make progress, and one day, everything will be accomplished. You’ll make it through this tough time, you just have to take things little by little, and I hope you remember that with this special ZOX.
