Not everything needs to be a lesson, and not every moment needs to be optimized or turned into a stepping stone toward something bigger. Sometimes a sea turtle is just floating near the surface of warm water, letting the current do most of the work, looking incredibly unbothered by everything happening on land, and there's something almost aspirational about that.
Goals are great and growth is great, but there's also something a little sacred about the moments where you're not trying to fix or improve anything, where you're just existing in your life and finding it enough. This strap is the permission slip you maybe forgot you were allowed to give yourself, the reminder that rest isn't laziness, that presence isn't procrastination, and that floating for a little while doesn't mean you've lost your direction. You'll get back to the swim, but right now, just be here.
The ocean isn't going anywhere, but for sea turtles, that peaceful float on the surface is getting harder to come by, and we didn't want to just make a beautiful strap and move on. We wanted to actually do something, so we partnered with Mote, a marine research and conservation organization doing incredible work to protect these animals, and what they've been able to accomplish is the kind of thing that genuinely gives you hope.
In fact, in previous years:
2,344 sea turtle hatchlings received rehabilitative care at Mote.
860 calls were answered by Mote’s 24 hour hotline for stranded marine animal response.
25 sea turtles were rehabilitated and released.
4,284 sea turtle nestswere documented by Mote scientists and volunteers.
A new Sea Turtle Protection Zone was announced by Mote in Sarasota County to keep turtles safe from unintended boat strikes.
We will be donating a portion of our proceeds for every design sold on our site from our Sea Turtle Collection to Mote, a wonderful organization that's leading the way in marine research and conservation.
