Día de los Muertos gets something right that most of us were never taught. It does not treat remembering as sad. It sets out the food they liked, plays the music they played, tells the story everyone already knows, and lets the whole thing be loud and warm rather than careful and quiet.
That is the spirit this one was made in, celebratory in its craft rather than careful. And here is the part worth holding onto: the love does not go anywhere.
