John Muir, an advocate for the beauty of the natural world, once said, “The clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness.”
I love that, and, to be honest, I think John is 100% right. The universe itself is so vast, so immense, that it's hard for us to even remotely comprehend it. But when you are outside, looking up at the stars and moon with nature all around you, it's almost as if you get this slightly stronger understanding of how everything is connected.
Nature has a wonderful way of making us feel whole, of encouraging us to be a better version of ourselves. In fact, when we lived in Hawaii, I found my favorite thing to do there was just to get outside by all the palm trees and gaze up at the sky at night. It was immensely powerful at feeling like somehow, someway, I'm a part of something so much bigger than I know. And that makes me happy.
