It's hard to celebrate the holidays with open seats at the table. We've got one this year at our house as well, missing Kara's grandma who recently passed away after 101 amazing years of life.
But as I thought about how sad it was that she was no longer with us, the reality is that she's not truly gone - the impact she's made on so many people lives on, the love she gave is something that remains inside all of us. And I think that's a remarkable way to look at losing the ones we love - we keep them in our heart so that, in reality, they are never truly gone.
