Pressure is a poor thing to wish on anyone and an excellent thing to have survived. Nobody signs up for the year that tests them. But there is a piece of knowledge on the other side of one that you cannot get any other way, and it is the simple fact of having found out what you are made of rather than guessing at it.
One Tough Nut puts that in the most literal costume available. The nutcracker is a soldier whose entire job description is applying force to something hard and seeing what gives. It is a funny way into a serious idea, which tends to be the way these land best.
Here is the part worth holding onto. You do not actually know how solid you are until something leans on you, and most people are considerably more solid than they believe. The evidence is behind you, in every stretch you were sure would break you and did not.
That is not a story about being unbreakable. It is a story about having already been tested and still being here to talk about it.
Some things crack under pressure. You turned out not to be one of them.
