The narwhal spent a very long time being a rumor. Sailors came home with a spiral tusk and a story, nobody entirely believed them, and for centuries the creature existed mostly as something implausible that turned out to be true.
That is a good thing to have on your wrist. This one puts the narwhal in deep blue and gold, surrounded by stars, planets and delicate leafwork, the whole thing looking less like a wildlife illustration and more like a page out of something very old and slightly enchanted.
Most people have a part of themselves they present carefully, because it does not match the rest and they suspect it will not be believed. The unlikely interest. The ambition that does not fit the job title. The thing they are good at that nobody would guess from looking.
That part is not a contradiction to be managed. It is usually the most interesting thing about you, and the people worth knowing are precisely the ones who light up when they find it rather than the ones who look confused.
It was real the whole time. Everyone just needed to see the tusk.
