I was recently talking to a neighbor who just moved in next to us and when I asked him what made them decide to move, he told me that they looked at their lives by how many good summers they had left - he estimated around 10.
That hit me right in the heart as I reflected on how many Christmases we had left with our kids before they didn't live at home anymore - for Sven, it's only 11 more. And I'll tell you what - the second you start thinking about it in terms of moments left like that, the more valuable they become. I think that's because like time, we don't really realize how valuable it is until there's not much left.
That was my hope for this incredibly nostalgic reminder - that you'd take a moment to appreciate this time you have together with people you care about this holiday season while you still can. It's always worth it.
